Event run by Topping & Company Booksellers
Moonshine Darjeerling (delicate and flowery), Zomba Pearls from Malawi (buttery and hay-like), Assam Mist (bright, robust), not to mention the special Oolong, Puer and Green Teas that fill this special tea house.
Immerse yourself in the world of single estate loose-leaf teas with this charming and knowledgeable husband and wife tea-merchant team. In their book Tales of the Tea Trade, Michelle and Rob Comins will take you on a fascinating journey into the lives of those who plant, pluck and process tea. Learn about the provenance of the plant, the regions of the world where tea is grown and even the producers of teaware, to discover why we should all make time for tea.
Comins Tea House is an oasis of calm on Monmouth Street in Bath with blonde wood, a tea school, steep sessions and an array of delicate tea ware on sale. Maps of tea estates hang on the walls and tables are inset with little gutters (to tip your dregs into before you start a second cup). Brew your own tea of choice and enjoy lunches of gyoza, matcha cookies, Sri Lankan hoppers or Hokkaido milk bread with cinnamon butter.
This will be a fun and informative evening with tales and tastes from the little known world of the tea trade. A must for all tea lovers!
