The Summer party is fast approaching!
Here are all the details from Emma B:
We have arranged for a Pub Quiz around Bath followed by an early dinner.
For the pub quiz we will need teams of 4 which I will arrange and distribute; and for the early dinner we need to pre-order. More details below on both.
The plan is to meet outside The Crystal Palace on Abbey Green at 2.30pm where we will be given:
· An introduction to the tour & the ideas behind it.
· A miniature pub chalk board & chalk (one per team).
Each team will come up with a Pub Quiz Team Name, which will eventually be entered into The Bath Pub Tour Hall of Fame.
The questions are multiple-choice /educated-guess questions about pub culture & Bath history with a few bizarre trivia facts thrown in.
The route:
We leave The Crystal Palace and walk up through town for about 45 minutes. It doesn't feel like going for 'a walk' though. It is very gentle & familiar. It's probably about 15 minutes walking & the rest standing outside 'lost & forgotten pubs' & trying to imagine what they were like. We'll stop 3 x 10 minutes with 5 minutes between each stop.
Then we'll go to an actual pub & have a drink & some snacks! At this point we will have a beer expert speak briefly about local brewers & about the particular ale we are tasting. This is an opportunity to sit down for 15-20 minutes.
From this pit-stop, we'll do another 15 minutes walking + 30 minutes standing & answering questions before we get to The Bell on Walcot Street where the winners will be announced! and the tour ends.
Food:
Once finished we will move to Bistrot Pierre (at Princess Buildings, 4 George Street) for an early evening 2 course dinner approximately 5.30/6pm.
