We appreciate the hard work our staff put into their work; cultivating an environment and culture that's relaxed and enjoyable is important to us. It helps us keep perspective when the pressure is on and deadlines loom.
Flexibility within the working day
We recognise people’s need for flexibility. Staff can choose to arrive early to leave early, or arrive a little later and work later. We just ask them to ensure they are at work between 10am and 4pm.
Starting the day well
We have safe bike storage, so many staff choose to cycle to work. For those who wish to freshen up on arrival we’ve shower facilities available. Fresh coffee is always on the machine and with a toaster and microwave oven available people can grab themselves a quick bite to eat.
Cultural activities, social fun and supporting charities
In addition to supporting a range of local charities through donations and sponsorships, we have a number of formal, informal, organised and spontaneous activities enjoyed by staff, examples include:
- A weekly badminton court booking
- Trips to lectures, galleries, concerts … and to the pub!
- The SRA summer party, where staff can bring partners and kids
- Our Christmas party
- Bath Boules
- The BathHalf marathon
- Local arts events
Work hard, then take a break
We understand the importance of getting off the treadmill from time to time. We encourage staff to take all their annual leave. For those wanting some extra rest days or who wish to extend their adventure, they can choose to take a few additional days off as unpaid leave.
Cake, fruit and a space to celebrate
We find any excuse to congregate in our lovely new kitchen area: lunch, celebrations and most importantly our weekly bake-off competition. To balance the quantity of cake that’s shared, we have a bowl of fresh fruit available for staff to help themselves to at any time.
Salary sacrifice schemes
We’ve a lot of cyclists at SRA, many of whom have benefited from the salary sacrifice cycle scheme. We also offer an equivalent scheme for the purchase of computers and laptops. For parents with children eligible for Childcare vouchers, these too can be accessed through salary sacrifice.
