Apley House

The Royal United Hospital required a new office space that would allow for continuous change for at least the next 60 years. It also needed to be built quickly. So SRA applied the Öppen system for its speed, economy, durability and adaptability.

The immediate needs were a Medical Records scanning bureau to digitise thousands of documents, and space for a full department of 70 people. The building had to cope with the heat load of computers and handle heavy deliveries, yet have raised floors for easy cable access.

The result is 12,142sqft of space that can be quickly adapted to almost any use, from offices to wards, and laboratories to training rooms. It will provide significant support to this vital regional healthcare facility for decades to come.
