Enabling others to showcase their abilities: Special Olympics GB

In August of 2013 Bath hosted the Special Olympics GB National Summer Games. We were privileged to be involved in this brilliant event.

Andy Battle, one of our Associates, seized the opportunity to assist with the event, allowing him to engage with two of his favourite things: people and sport. His role on the Host City Committee involved working with local business enterprises, raising awareness and drumming up financial support.

As local architects we offered our skills and experience supporting the Special Olympics GB Committee with strategic facilities planning at the University of Bath Sports Training Village.  We worked with the organisers to accommodate the needs of athletes, the public and various sporting events.  We joined others to ensure a successful and enjoyable Games were had by all.

Through all we did the athletes remained the focus; they were the stars. Our role was to enable them to shine as brightly as possible. The expressions of joy and enthusiasm on their faces will be a lasting memory. Our small contribution to the whole Games was well worth it.
