SRA Chartered Architectural Technologist chairs his final national, bi-annual CIAT aspirATion meeting

Within the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists, there are aspirATion Groups in the 16 UK Regions, as well as groups in the Republic of Ireland and Europe.

The aim of these groups is to engage future Architectural Technology professionals and target students, graduates and aspiring/recently qualified professional Architectural Technicians/Chartered Architectural Technologists to encourage institute engagement in their formative years within the discipline.

On Wedensday 24th May, William chaired his last national, bi-annual meeting. He has held the overarching chair post since December 2015 and will remain in position for the next 6 months, handing over the role to the new Chairman in time for the next meeting.

The session was held at Coventry University - hosted by course leader on the Architectural Technology (AT) degree Carl Mills. A morning of meetings followed, and then lunch in the AT degree exhibition, after which a tour of the University and Coventry’s notable landmarks. In attendance also was Francesca Berriman MBE, Chief Executive of CIAT.

The tour included the Department of the Built Environment and University Campus, comprising impressive Harrier ‘Jump-jet’ flight simulator facilities and wind tunnel environments.

As the overarching Chair of the CIAT aspirATion Group it’s been a hugely rewarding post developing myself both personally and professionally. There’s no greater feeling of satisfaction than meeting members and hearing how the Group has provided them with a platform to grow and possibly become industry leaders of tomorrow.
