Horizon Technology Park

Horizon Technology Park is an emerging hub for innovation in Eynsham, Oxfordshire. It is currently home to pioneering businesses in science, technology and advanced manufacturing, including Polar Technology and Siemens.

Further expansion of the site and replacement of ageing building stock is all part of a plan to provide sustainable facilities to support the next generation of occupiers.

Working with owners Elwood Fund Management, SRA Architects have developed a scheme, currently under consideration for planning, which delivers 15,200 sqm (163,750 sqft) of flexible, high-quality space across five new buildings, to be developed in two phases. The buildings will support a wide range of uses including R&D, laboratories, offices, and light production.

Designing for adaptability

To attract the broadest spectrum of occupiers, the units were designed with adaptability in mind. The two-storey ‘mid-tech’ units range from 500–2,000 sqm and include double-height warehouse space, Cat A office mezzanines, roller shutter access, and high-quality entrance cores.

Externally, the buildings feature plant compounds, cycle storage, PVs for renewable energy and extensive EV charging provision. Larger units incorporate dedicated service yards with HGV access.

Placemaking with purpose

Sustainability and placemaking are integral to the scheme. Units are set around a landscaped central walkway with external amenity spaces to encourage collaboration, while rain gardens manage surface water as part of a sustainable drainage strategy. The architectural detailing includes striking angled window reveals and double-height entrance lobbies.

All this combines to create an inspiring setting for innovation – a vibrant community where ambitious technology businesses can thrive.
