Horstmann
Located within a prime residential area in Bath, SRA was appointed to deliver the 80-unit development at Horstmann Close. The previous use of the formerly industrial site presented significant challenges regarding ground conditions, drainage and levels.
Within the World Heritage City of Bath, the scheme was subject to strict planning requirements and challenges that informed the design and layout of our proposals. The scheme required close collaboration with the Local Planning Authority, the local residents’ association and community groups, as well as a wider group of stakeholders.
The proposals incorporate a mix of unit types, from town houses to apartments, with a balanced approach to vehicle and pedestrian movements, using parking courtyards to reduce vehicle movements and road-side parking.
The central public space prioritises pedestrian movement and well-being, providing social and activity space and is enjoyed by the residents. The scheme was delivered on time and on budget, using a phased approach and carefully managed programme.
