An Architecture Club talk
Transition by Design, an Oxford-based architecture and design co-operative are developing a project called One Planet Affordable Living (OPAL), a new approach to housing delivery which prioritises citizen engagement and genuine affordability using the One Planet Living framework for truly sustainable communities. The project has two years of funding from the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust to test the approach with construction sector professionals and community-led housing groups across the UK.
Charlie splits his time between the architecture practice Transition by Design, a social enterprise and co-operative working mainly in the housing and sustainability sectors, and undertaking a PhD at Oxford Brookes university on urban housing delivery models. Charlie is also a voluntary Director of a community land trust which aims to build permanently affordable homes in Oxford, one of the least affordable cities in the country.
